Construction industry employment numbers for September
The construction industry employed over 6 million in September 2009. This is a 64,000 decline in jobs since August. For the past year the industry has lost close to 1 million jobs.
The construction industry has been shedding jobs every month since July 2007. Since that time the industry has lost 1.65 million jobs.
The last time the construction industry's job numbers were lower than the number for September was in March 1998.
