Florida foreclosures: Number of filings for the quarter dropped by 12 percent
But state has second highest number of filings
Florida had a 12 percent drop in its foreclosure filings in March, compared to figures in the fourth quarter of 2008. However, Florida ranks second highest in the number of foreclosure filings for the first quarter of 2009. Florida had 119,220 housing units in foreclosure, according to a report by RealtyTrac.
California had the nation's highest foreclosure filings with a total of 230,915 units, while the national total was 803,489 units.
One in every 73 housing units in Florida had received a foreclosure filing, ranking it the 4th highest in the nation.
Florida had a total of 47,131 filings for the month of March. This was a 2 percent increase from February and a 56 percent increase from March 2008.
