Top 10 metro areas with most job postings

Washington DC topped the 50 largest cities in the nation with the most job postings per capita. Washington DC had 133 job postings per 1,000 residents in the second quarter of 2009. Washington DC taking the first spot is not too much of a surprise because federal government hiring has kept up during this time.

The report is according to a broad job search engine that combs company and association websites, job boards, newspapers, and blogs for postings.

The city coming in second place is a city close to Washington DC -- Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore is helped by being close to Washington DC.  Baltimore is also helped by having some industries that are more recession proof than others, such as healthcare and higher education.

Coming in third is a city in Silicon Valley, California. The technology heavy San Jose area has been able to weather the storm of the housing industry and technology industry cut backs.
